Sonthi Limtongkul supports protest against Macro in Pranburi
On Saturday 18 August 2007 in the evening, at Pranbuburi Foundation leader of Secure the Kingdom Foundation “ Mr. Sonthi Limongkul and his team from ASTV come met local resident who campaign against Macro Superstore which will open soon in Pranburi District.
Pranburi residents have learned about six months ago that the superstore chain Macro intends to open a new store in Pranburi district. Local residents are very worried that local shop owners will not be able to compete with Macro and many small shops will have to close. They went to meet the Governor and Vice - Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan Province few months ago. Pranburi residents fiercely oppose opening of the Macro Superstore.
About one thousand of local residents, mainly woman came listen to Sonthi. During the meeting with local residents Mr. Sonthi Limongkul said that the government has to intervene immediately and the local Pranburi Municipality should prevent opening of the Macro Superstore. He has encouraged locals to take action. The local residents have applauded Sonthi.
Towards the end of the meeting, Mr. Suriyah Sai Kataksira has asked local resident to vote in the constitution referendum on Sunday. Mr.Somkiat Pongpaibull, well known to the residents has said that Taksin should not come back to Thailand, because he made too many problems when he was a prime minister, people don't want him back.
